Philippe Cherbonnier and Jonathan Man leave Yellow Earth

Friday, 27 August, 2010 Yellow Earth’s co-artistic directors Philippe Cherbonnier and Jonathan Man, are leaving the company to pursue freelance careers. Philippe and Jonathan took up post in January 2009 and we wish them well in their future work.

As previously announced, KUMIKO MENDL, one of the company’s founder members, has been appointed as interim Creative Producer. Her first production will be Why the Lion Danced which she will be directing. The play will be written by Quicksilver’s Carey English. The production will tour nationally round Chinese New Year and throughout January and February 2011.

Yellow Earth announces the appointment of Kumiko Mendl as Creative Producer

Friday, 06 August, 2010 Yellow Earth is delighted to announce the appointment of Kumiko Mendl as Creative Producer of Yellow Earth. Kumiko takes up post in September. She is a founder member of Yellow Earth and has been involved with the company since it was founded.

Her first production for the company is a brand new play for children for Chinese New Year called Why the Lion Danced. The play opens in January 2011 and plays in London as well as touring nationally.

Yellow Academy Summer School

Friday, 30 July, 2010 16 young British East Asians selected from all over the UK have been living and breathing drama, spending the past week taking classes in movement, voice and text work at ALRA (The Academy of Live and Recorded Arts) run by Yellow Earth and ALRA tutors. More details soon...

Dates and Places for Yellow Academy 2010

Saturday, 20 February, 2010 Yellow Academy 2010 is an exciting new initiative between Yellow Earth (UK’s leading East Asian* theatre company) and ALRA (The Academy of Live and Recorded Arts). Outreaching to Belfast, Birmingham, London, and Manchester through February to May 2010, we will be bringing together a group of enthusiastic and curious young people down to London for a free week of acting training in Summer 2010.

Activities are free and open to all British East Asians aged 16-30 curious or interested in actor training. No previous experience necessary.

East Asian actors workshop day - Saturday 6th March 2010

Saturday, 20 February, 2010 Yellow Earth will be holding a free workshop day offering East Asian* actors a chance to refresh their acting skills. If you want to explore and improve your text interpretation, devising and physical acting skills, we are offering an opportunity to learn and play on texts and movement. A day long class run by YET's co-artistic directors, Philippe Cherbonnier and Jonathan Man, to be held in South London on Saturday 6th March from 10am till 5pm.
