Chinese New Year Celebrations at the National Portrait Gallery

Join us at the Gallery for a day of special activities from storytelling to Chinese mask-making, celebrating the Year of the Ox. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Alice Lee will perform tunes sung by the three legendary Chinese female divas: Zhou Xuan, Teresa Tang and Wong Faye; and share with us stories that helped shape the Chinese pop music culture. Shídàiq is a type of Chinese folk/European jazz fusion music that originated in Shanghai, in the 1920s.
