September, 1996 Written and Directed by David K.S. Tse (1996)Bittersweet rites-of-passage story following the progress of a teenager from rural Hong Kong to public school in England. Cultural dislocation, spiritual and sexual awakening turn his world upside down, challenging centuries of Confucian thinking.
Memories of "home" are evoked by slides of rural life in the New Territories, and the Buddhist fable, Journey to the West, is woven into the piece Beijing Opera style.
