Mid-Autumn Moon Festival Play
October, 2006 What does the moon mean to us?Mysterious, large, precious, round pearl in the night sky.
A Chinese community play to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival And Performance by The True Heart Playback Theatre Group
Its harvest time and we are reminded of Chang O, the Lady of the Moon, and her husband, the Great Archer, who shot down the 9 suns. It is also time for Moon Cakes and secret messages!?
The Moon Play has been devised by members of the Adult Drama Group and Youth Group and Volunteers from The Camden Chinese Community Centre, London (overseas) Chinese school in Colindale; with the support of theatre professionals, Wing-Hong Li, Kumiko Mendl and Veronica Needa. They will work with our performers to create three plays, using different performing methods to present you the story and real meaning behind the Mid-Autumn Festival. The three plays will be combined magically into one masterpiece by Technical Director, Kwong Loke and Assistant Technical Director, Jing Wong.
The second half of the evening will be with The True Heart Theatre, a community theatre company which will perform spontaneous improvisational theatre, inviting YOUR stories about the Moon Festival.
The show is in English and Chinese, and suitable for all ages.
