Kumiko Mendl
Kumiko Mendl has a BA Hons in Education Studies and trained at the Jacques Lecoq Theatre school in Paris. Since then she has worked as an actress, teacher, movement director and director. As one of the founding members of Yellow Earth Theatre Kumiko has performed in many productions and is one of the script selectors for Typhoon YET’s annual playreading Festival. She is currently Yellow Earth’s Education Associate.Acting work;
Theatre work for Tara Arts/RNT, Polka Theatre, Northampton Royal, The Gate, Young Vic, LIFT, National Theatre Studio and most recently a one woman storytelling show Tales from Old Japan and Milky Way.
TV and Radio: The Many Cinderellas (Channel 4 schools), A Migrants Heart (BBC2) From Telford to the Stream of Dragons (Radio 4)
Directing work includes;
Community pieces such as Echoes of Home, Then and Now, co- directing of Rashomon for Yellow Earth.
As a teacher and workshop leader; core tutor with Clean Break T.C for the past twelve years teaching physical theatre and mask, also works freelance teaching and workshop leading for many established companies.

Critical Debate and Archiving panel for ACE 2006, Cultural Ambassador 2004-6 for Arts Depot outreaching the Chinese and Japanese communities , Graduate Diploma in Professional Studies TAPP 2006 (teacher artist partnership programme), curator Asobi! and Asobi!2 (Japanese family day) at Arts Depot, North Finchley.
